Chepang Indigenous Knowledge Center, Jimling, Chitwan, Nepal
The Chepang Indigenous Knowledge Center is envisioned as a community-owned and culturally significant space that brings together Chepang people to meet, interact, discuss community issues, and collectively engage in strengthening social cohesion, promoting inclusive participation for the well-being of the community. Chepang Indigenous Knowledge Center will serve as a sacred cultural space dedicated to preserving, practicing, and transmitting the knowledge, traditions, languages, values, participate in storytelling, cultural performances, spiritual ceremonies, dialogue, and intergenerational learning. The knowledge center is built by Namaste Nepal Belgium. The center will be managed and monitored by the Chepang community itself, ensuring local ownership and sustainability.

The Chepang Indigenous Knowledge Centre is more than a building—it is a living space where elders pass on ancestral wisdom, children learn their language and culture, youth become future leaders, and researchers work alongside the community to document and protect Indigenous knowledge.

Located in Jimling, Chitwan, the Centre was established to safeguard the Chepang people’s language, oral histories, traditional ecological knowledge, customary governance, food systems, and spiritual heritage for future generations. While the Centre has been built through generous support, we now need partners to help operate and sustain it.

Your contribution will support educational programmes, intergenerational learning, community libraries, research, cultural activities, children’s learning spaces, documentation of Indigenous knowledge, and basic facilities such as clean water, sanitation, and maintenance. Together, we can ensure that the wisdom of the Chepang people continues to thrive and inspire future generations.
